Your Privacy 

Our Privacy Policy sets forth the standards that we will follow with regard to the information provided by you and other visitors to futurebudget.org who register to join our community, to play our games, or otherwise to contribute to our project. When you use futurebudget.org, you are joining or entering our community and you therefore agree to be bound by this Privacy Policy.

Information You Provide 

In certain areas of the game you may be prompted to provide your email address. In other areas you may be prompted to provide anonymous demographic information such as your age, political party affiliation, and your zip code. 

Futurebudget.org uses a standard technology called “cookies.” Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your computer and not on futurebudget.org. Cookies help us understand how you use futurebudget.org which in turn allows us to improve and tailor futurebudget.org. You may not be able to use futurebudget.org if you disable cookies. 

Our Use of Information You Provide 

In certain areas of the game we may ask you to provide personal information. If you provide your email address we will use that information to send you occasional updates to alert you of new or improved experiences on the website. We will never link your email to your answers or to any other information you provide. If you provide other personal information after completing a game we may compile that information in the aggregate to determine the preferences of different types of users. For example, if you provide your zip code, we may calculate the average choice of everyone in that particular zip code. We may use zip code to share with a Member of Congress the average choice of users in their district. When you provide this information, you grant access to that information to the Committee for a Responsible Budget for the purposes described above. We store that information in a secure database.  

Disclosure of Personal Information 

We will not disclose your Personal Information to third parties without your permission. So, for example, we will not sell your email address or other Personal Information to mass marketers. We will only share information in the aggregate to create statistics about people’s choices in the games. 
 
If law enforcement or judicial authorities require us to provide them with your Personal Information, we must cooperate with the authorities if their request is supported with the necessary legal documentation. 

Our Security Procedures 

We have implemented security measures to protect your information from loss, misuse, and alteration.  

Your Control of Personal Information 

You may limit the collection and use of different elements of your Personal Information by not participating in those activities for which we collect Personal Information, as listed above. You may choose to discontinue the collection, use, and disclosure of your Personal Information by limiting or discontinuing your use of futurebudget.org altogether. 

Privacy Protection for Children 

If you are under the age of 13, please do not use futurebudget.org. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we will not knowingly permit persons under the age of 13 to provide Personal Information to us through futurebudget.org or otherwise. If we later learn that you are under the age of 13, we will take appropriate steps to remove your Personal Information from our database and restrict your access to futurebudget.org. 

Third-Party Sites 

This Privacy Policy addresses only activities connected with futurebudget.org. Other sites, including those linked to from our site, may have their own policies that we do not control and are not addressed or controlled by this Privacy Policy. Please note that if you provide any information directly to parties other than us, including sites linked to on futurebudget.org, different rules may apply to the use or disclosure of the Personal Information you disclose to them. We encourage you to investigate and ask questions before disclosing information to third parties. 

Changes and Notice 

We believe strongly in respecting your privacy. We will update and amend this Privacy Policy if and when it is necessary. Please check back often to read our most updated and amended version. Upon posting the amended version, we will take reasonable measures, either through email or other electronic medium, to notify you of the amended terms, but your continued use of futurebudget.org means that you consent to our updates and amendments. 

If we decide to use your Personal Information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify you by email. You may choose whether or not we may use such information in this manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect your Personal Information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on futurebudget.org notifying you of the change. In some cases when we post such notice, we may also email you notifying you of the changes in this Privacy Policy.
